薛子江

薛子江,中国著名风光摄影大师,1910年7月14日生于广东省顺德县,11岁时到香港谋生。1929年至1933年,任职香港的广东银行电梯工。1933年开始摄影创作。香港佛伦达摄影比赛第一名是他在香港荣获的第一个摄影奖项,之后,又连续两年荣获德臣西报主办的全港摄影比赛第一奖。之后,又参加了由香港爱好摄影的人士组成的六二〇团。1941年,薛子江与朋友在皇后道开设了国际摄影室,开始潜心钻研摄影艺术。太平洋战争爆发后,离开香港回到广东。1945年,日军投降后,薛子江在广州开设了光林摄影店,与蔡俊三等人创立了广东摄影学会,任首任会长。

解放后,薛子江曾任中国新闻社摄影记者、中国摄影学会常务理事、《中国摄影》杂志常务理事、全国影展评委。
1962年3月8日,薛子江在北京协和医院逝世,享年52岁。

1958年7月,中国摄影学会为薛子江在北京举办个人摄影作品展览,展出作品120幅。1963年3月,中国摄影学会举办了“薛子江摄影遗作展”,共展出作品107幅。1963年12月1日至4日,“摄影家薛子江遗作展览”在香港大会堂八楼展览厅举行,共展出作品100幅。

1983年上海人民美术出版社出版《薛子江摄影作品集》。

他曾任英国皇家摄影学会高级会员、荷兰专业摄影杂志《焦点》赠予的荣誉会员、印度摄影学会荣誉会员。主要代表作品:《日出而作》、《春泛嘉陵江》、《衡山初晓》、《漓江航运》、《千里江陵一日还》、《欢乐》、《热闹的灌县》、《圆润净洁》、《洞庭湖夕照》、《灵谷寺道》、《激流》、《喜见初雪》、《山在水中》、《群山朝雾》、《长江日出》、《珠江》、《泛泛绿水中》、《云冈石窟之大佛》、《重庆南温泉公园》、《重庆朝天门》、《春耕之前》、《巴蜀梯田》、《峨眉》、《西湖白堤》、《工地之晨》(《工地的早晨》)等。1958年编著的实用摄影知识丛书之《怎样拍摄风景》由上海人民美术出版社出版,并多次再版,直至八十年代,发行了53万本以上。

以上本画廊收集的薛子江作品均为早期制作的展览原作,有些是其生前制作并签名的早期原作。

 

1963年121日至124日,由“港中友好”和香港薛子江先生生前友好共同举办的“摄影家薛子江遗作展览”在香港大会堂八楼展览大厅展出。在香港这个展览的部分展览原作于19647月香港《摄影画报》创刊后,转由香港《摄影画报》收藏,黄建鹏画廊经过近两年与香港《摄影画报》的谈判,香港《摄影画报》终于同意将薛子江在香港这个展览的大尺寸(930英寸,420英寸)代表作出售给黄建鹏画廊,另外一些小尺寸(1420英寸)展览原作由香港《摄影画报》出售给香港博物馆收藏。201318日,香港《摄影画报》社长伍小仪女士和南京国人文化广告传播有限公司(黄建鹏画廊)总经理黄建鹏在广州市广州宾馆对薛子江大师的原作进行了交接。至此,我们画廊已拥有薛子江大师摄影作品20种,共计24幅。



 

Xue Zijiang


Xue Zijiang was a master in photographing Chinese scenery. He was born in Shunde County of Guangdong Province on June 14th, 1910, and moved to Hong Kong when he was 11 years old. He worked as a elevator worker in Guangdong Bank from 1929 to 1933. He started fine art photographing in 1933. He won his first prize in Hong Kong Frolunda Photo Competition. Then he won the first place of Hong Kong Photography Competition held by The China Mail. He soon became a member of 620 group which was formed by amateur photographers in Hong Kong. In 1941 Xue Zijiang opened an international photography studio to develop his artistic photography with his friend on Queen's Road, Hong Kong. He left Hong Kong and went back to Guangdong after the pacific war. In 1945 he opened Guanglin photo shop in Guangzhou after the Japanese surrendered. He started Guangdong Photography Association with Chun Sam Tsot and some other photograogers and became the first president of the association.

After the liberation of China, Xue Zijinag served as a China News Service photographer, executive director of China Photographic Society, executive director of China Photography Magazine and judge of the National Photography Exhibition.

On March.8, 1962, Xue Zijiang passed away in Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

Xue Zijiang held his first solo exhibition in Beijing in July 1958, curated by China Photographic Society. 120 pieces of works were exhibited. In March, 1963 China Photographic Society held a posthumous photography exhibition of Xue Zijiang, where his 107 pieces of works were exhibited. This exhibition traveled to Hong Kong City Hall on December 1st , 1963, and lasted for 4 days.

In 1983 Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House published Photographic Works of Xue Zijiang.

Xue Zijiang was a senior member of The Royal Photographic Society, honorable member of Dutch professional photography magazine Focus, honorable member of India Photographic Society. His master works are: Work at Sunrise, Spring in Jialing River, Dawn at Hengshan Mountain, Shipping Scenery in Lijiang River, Three Hundred Miles to Jiangling by Night-fall, Joy, Prosperous Guan County, Round and Clean, Sunset in Dongting Lake, The Path of Linggu Temple, Torrent, Delighted to See the First Snow, Mountains in the Water, Morning Mist in the Mountains, Sunrise in Changjiang River, The Pearl River, Boating on Green Waves, Stone Buddha in Longmen, Southern Hot Springs Park in Chongqing, Chaotianmen in Chongqing, Before Spring Ploughing, Terrace in Sichuan Province, Emei, Bai Causeway of the West Lake, Morning in the Construction Site and so on. In 1958, Xue Zijiang edited a practical photographic book How to Photograph Landscapes, this book was published by Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House and was reprinted for many times till the 1980s, the total quantity was over 530,000.

During Dec.1 to Dec.4, 1963, The Posthumous Photography Exhibition of Xue Zijiang was held on the eighth floor of Hong Kong City Hall by Hong Kong Mainland Friendship Association and some of Xue Zijiang’s friends. Part of the original exhibition prints were published on Hong Kong Photo Pictorial in Jul, 1964 and were collected by Hong Kong Photo Pictorial. After two years negotiations with Hong Kong Photo Pictorial, they finally agreed to sell these large-sized exhibition prints(9 of them sized 30in, and 4 of them sized 20in) to Huang Jianpeng Gallery. Some other smaller-sized(14in to 20in ) original exhibition prints were sold to Hong Kong Museum by Hong Kong Photo Pictorial. On Jan.8, 2013, President of Hong Kong Photo Pictorial, Ms Wu Xiaoyi handed those photos over to the manager of Nanjing Guoren Advertising Company(Huang Jianpeng Gallery), Mr. Huang Jianpeng in Guangzhou Hotel. So far, Huang Jianpeng Gallery has collected 24 early Original Prints (20 kinds in all) photographed by Xue Zijiang.

Huang Jianpeng Gallery has collected many early vintage prints and original exhibition prints of Xue Zijiang. Some of those prints were made and signed by Xue Zijiang.
